  27. The two sentiments are not contradictory. I maintain that one of the
  28. reasons that Kermit development has been stagnant, is because of its
  29. distribution policies. Cause and effect.

  31. (BTW, there are enough legacy systems around out there to give Kermit
  32. a continuing life for some time. I just note that it is not keeping pace
  33. with other developments; communications development skills that could
  34. have helped Kermit have instead gone into freely-distributable software
  35. such as Seyon. And I attribute this, in part, to Columbia's abandonment
  36. of the community development model when they went commercial.)

  46. Fine, until you want to give it to someone else. If 'someone else' pays
  47. you (ie, they are your client) you are prohibited from giving them Kermit
  48. unless Columbia gets a cut.

  56. My comments are not to deny Columbia the ability to do what they please
  57. with Kermit, only to point out the hypocricy of these policies and the
  58. effect they have had on recruitment efforts for Kermit developers.

  63. I use Kermit under its guidelines. I find the guidelines illogical
  64. and self-defeating and I say so.
